Tattoo removal without laser with SKINIAL

Information and SKINIAL method

Summary and overview

Who is SKINIAL?

SKINIAL was founded and developed in Germany by Klaus G. Böde and is one of the pioneers of the first hour (2009) in this still young industry. Meanwhile there are more than 800 studios in over 20 countries. Different tattoo removal concepts without laser have developed worldwide. They mainly use salt, chemical cocktails, acids and externally applied creams with the help of various techniques and devices.

How does tattoo removal work with SKINIAL?

The SKINIAL methods remove the pigmentation of tattoos, permanent make-up and microblading from the skin regardless of age, quality and colour of the ink. With the help of a micropigmentation device and a diluted physiological lactic acid solution, the skin is stimulated to naturally repel the artificial pigments itself to the skin surface.

Is the SKINIAL method safe?

The SKINIAL method is a patented, cosmetic tattoo removal method, which was developed in Germany and demonstrably fulfils all legal requirements and the highest safety and quality standards, which has been confirmed by several European health authorities.

Risks and side effects

Each customer is carefully informed about the risks of the treatment before treatment. A mandatory tolerance test provides information on how well the treatment will heal and the expected result. Visible scars can never be completely ruled out, but they are rare and are usually due less to improper treatment than to lack of follow-up care, health problems or genetic predisposition.

Only trained specialists may remove with SKINIAL

Removals with the SKINIAL method may only be carried out by trained persons who have learned our techniques as part of a thorough training. The training is offered in several languages offline and online.

If you have special questions, we will be happy to answer them on FACEBOOK, by mail or via the chat on our homepage.

The future belongs to tattoo removal without laser

While until a few years ago, tattoos and PMU were almost exclusively removed by laser, laser-free methods have been gaining ground for some time now. These methods, which were developed ten to 15 years ago but for a long time were only known to insiders, offer a number of advantages. They are gentle, harmless and, in contrast to lasers, really remove the color pigments from the body. With lasers, on the other hand, the color particles are only so much reduced in size that they are transported out of the uppermost layer of skin into the body and are therefore no longer visible, but remain in the body. As scientific studies show, for example by the Federal Office for Radiation Protection, this can lead to long-term negative consequences. Not least for this reason, it seems only logical that more and more beauticians, tattooists, dermatologists and also authorities are interested in laser-free removal methods, which have been recognised and regulated throughout Europe since 2017 - despite numerous resistances from the "laser lobby".

In order to keep unwelcome competition at bay, convinced laser users tried to discredit the laser-free methods for a long time. Completely without reason, but unfortunately with success. Thus, the arguments often put forward by doctors about the frightening scarring caused by the application of acids were taken over by the press without any tests and carried into the world. The result was an enormous but unfounded fear of laser-free methods and at the same time a high of the laser myth.

In reality, however, laser-free methods, such as the SKINIAL method, are skin-friendly methods that are based on an acid, but contain less acid than a normal salad dressing. It seems only logical that the acids used in laser-free methods cannot be the causal reason for scarring. Especially when they are applied only on small areas and in minimal doses. This is also confirmed by letters from independent ministries, such as the BAG - Federal Office of Public Health FOPH, Bern, Switzerland (10.5.2010) and the Ministry of Health and Youth in the Netherlands (13.6.2018).

Although scars usually do not occur during the laser-free treatment itself, if the treatment is carried out correctly by trained personnel, scarring can nevertheless occur. For example, existing burns from a previous unsuccessful laser treatment, strong sunlight or friction from clothing in the treated area, moisture, dirt infections, as well as too little or insufficient care and aftercare can lead to wound healing disorders and these in turn can cause scars. In addition, the individual personal condition of each person, i.e. the immune system, the health situation and genetic disposition, determines whether, how quickly and how well a wound heals and whether scars are formed.

Careful information of the customers is therefore the A & O of every treatment. After all, there is no point in customers chasing after false wishful thinking and believing that a tattoo made "for eternity" or a PMU can be removed 100% without visible skin damage - whether with or without laser. Even if the chances of laser-free removal are good, the chances and risks must be explained and explained in detail to each individual customer on the basis of a risk profile determined in the educational interview. Only in this way can customers assess the risks, expect realistic results and leave your studio as satisfied customers. Satisfied and happy, because thanks to SKINIAL nobody has to live with an unloved tattoo or PMU nowadays.

How exactly does the color come out of the skin

The natural rejection process of the skin

If tattoos or PMU are to be removed with the laser-free SKINIAL method, the epidermis is roughened in several places in the form of small round or oval dots (approx. 0.5 cm x 0.8 cm) using a micropigmentation device. A low concentration lactic acid solution (normal salad dressing contains more acid) is then drizzled on and massaged in. The solution thus penetrates into the skin layer containing the colour pigments. Until the penetration of the solution, these are covered by protective macrophages which prevent the colour pigments from being recognized as foreign substances and rejected.

However, contact of the macrophages with the SKINIAL solution activates the natural rejection process of the skin and the macrophage shells detach from the colour particles. The body recognises the colour pigments as foreign bodies and repels them to the skin surface over several days. A scab forms on the skin surface, in which the colour molecules are bound. If the scab falls off after about ten days, the colour pigments are also removed from the body and the reddened area can heal. Subsequently, neighbouring skin areas can be treated or tattooed.

In order to avoid scars as much as possible, SKINIAL only works on small areas, as a minimum surface tension is then guaranteed.

Four advantages of the Skinial method

1. All colours and colour mixtures are easily removed (SKIN-DO-MA® method) or lightened (FAD-IT-SAFE® method)

With the SKINIAL method not only tattoo colours and permanent make-up can be removed, but also lacquers and special mixtures. So successfully that the colour at the treated area is usually completely removed after the first treatment.

2. Only a few treatments are enough for a great success.

Compared to laser, the SKINIAL method requires considerably less treatment because the colour is really removed during each session and not just "faded". The removal of an entire tattoo or PMU therefore takes less time and the costs are often considerably lower.

3. No harmful paint residues or removal substances remain in the body

With the SKINIAL method the tattoo colour is pushed off to the skin surface during the wound healing process and leaves the body completely. The lactic acid used in this process is a physiological substance which the human body converts to glucose within a few hours, so that no harmful substances are left in the body.

4. Less pain, no burns, familiar terrain.

Tattoo or PMU removal using the SKNIAL method feels similar to the former tattoo. Pain, as it is caused by the enormous heat during laser removal, for example, does not occur with the SKINIAL method.

Pictures of the healing of a complete Skinial treatment (dot)

TATTOO WAY! Already after a SKINIAL treatment this is possible

In order to keep the risk of scarring and side effects to a minimum, the SKINIAL removal method, also called SKIN-DO-MA® method, only ever treats small areas. These, often round or oval areas, measuring approximately 0.5 cm x 0.8 cm, are called dots, mean a minimum surface tension for the skin and are ideal for showing the treatment process of a SKINIAL tattoo removal. Because even large areas are treated in several treatments in the form of dots.

The first step of the SKINIAL tattoo removal is the roughening of the uppermost skin layer in the area of the dots (picture 2), i.e. the area to be treated. The removal serum is then dripped and massaged into this area. This allows the serum to reach deeper skin layers and dissolve the colour pigments of the tattoo there, so that these are repelled to the skin surface within the natural wound healing process and bound in the scab (picture 3). Due to the mixture of wound fluid with colour pigments, the scab usually appears black to dark red and falls off after a few days. Underneath, the newly formed skin appears, which is initially still thin and reddened (picture 4), but usually returns to its natural skin colour after a short time (picture 5).

Because the great advantage of the SKINIAL-SKIN-DO-MA method is the fact that regardless of the type and quality of the tattoo, the tattoo colour can almost always be completely removed in only one treatment (in the area of the treated dots).

SKINIAL aftercare products are suitable for accelerating the wound healing process which starts after the scab has fallen off. In addition, UV radiation, friction, dirt and harmful influences should be avoided to prevent inflammations or scars.

With the SKINIAL FAD'it-SAFE® method, the skin is treated with a needle, just like with pigmentation or tattooing, but with a special removal fluid FADING EX. The colour then leaves the skin in a short time window to the outside and is closed again a few minutes later by the wound healing mechanism. The structure of the skin remains intact, short-term redness quickly disappears. The risk of scarring is extremely low, even for sensitive people.

2. Results SKINIAL tattoo removal

Successful tattoo and PMU removal without laser

Compared to graffiti on a house wall, the removal of a tattoo, PMU or microblading is much more complex and difficult. This is because the skin is a living organ that reacts differently to treatment for each person. In order to get an early first impression of the results to be expected depending on the individual constitution and history, a detailed consultation is held before each treatment. In this consultation, personal expectations and realistically achievable results are discussed in detail. An additional tolerance test shows the first results on the basis of a test treated area in nature.

Generally speaking, many customers have the misconception that any tattoo or PMU can be removed in such a way that the skin looks the same after removal as it did before the tattoo. This is often the case, but cannot be guaranteed by any method - neither with nor without laser. There is no guarantee for scar-free removal, because the formation of scars depends on many factors, such as individual skin characteristics, genetic conditions and to a large extent on personal aftercare and care.

However, due to the natural products used in the SKINIAL method, the experience with SKINIAL is very good and the vast majority of tattoos could be removed so well that after some time the former tattoo was no longer visible to the naked eye. With the SKIN-DO-MA removal method, experience shows that success with small tattoos can be seen after only two to three treatments. Due to the waiting time between treatments (about eight to ten weeks, in some cases even longer to ensure complete healing of the skin), this is the case at the earliest six to nine months after the last session. The removal of larger tattoos requires correspondingly more time and is also associated with a greater risk of visible scars due to the larger number of areas treated. Im In the case of removal using the FAD'it-SAFE method, healing can take days and scars are very unlikely.

To get a first impression of the results that can be achieved with the SKINIAL method, exemplary before-and-after pictures of the removal and correction of body tattoos, permanent make-up and microblading with the SKIN-DO-MA® method and the FAD'it-SAFE® method are shown on the right side. The pictures come from the archives of the SKINIAL studios, which use the treatment pictures not least for free and non-binding consultation for new customers.

3. Costs of a tattoo or PMU removal/fading

Before the actual removal of the tattoo or PMU starts, a compatibility test is carried out to determine whether the treatment method is tolerated, how fast the healing process is and how well the colour pigments are removed. The cost for this is 70 Euro and means for both sides, the practitioner and the treated person, security and realistic expectations of the treatment result.

After a successful tolerance test, the PMU or tattoo removal is carried out. The total duration and number of treatments* strongly depends on the size and shape. About one hour per treatment must be reckoned with, which is usually charged at a rate of 150 to 220 euros. However, the exact costs are determined by each studio itself. Per session about 15 to a maximum of 20 dots with a size of about 0.5 cm by 0.8 cm are treated. The exact distance between the individual dots depends on the type of tattoo.

Body Tattoo Removal:

There are three types of tattoo removal, which have a significant impact on the number and predictability of sessions.

  • With name tattoos, i.e. texts, thin lines, simple drawings, asterisks and the like, it is usually possible to predict the number of treatments accurately.

  • For tribals, i.e. wide lines and small areas not completely covered with paint, it is usually possible to make a rough estimate of the number of treatments.

  • With large and medium sized tattoos, which show coherent and completely covered with color, however, usually no or only a very imprecise estimate of the number of treatments is possible.

Permanent make-up removal:

A PMU correction can usually be completed in one or two treatments.

The complete removal of eyebrows may require further treatment in difficult cases. However, the number of treatments is usually easy to estimate, similar to name tattoos.

Fading of pigmentation:

With the FAD'it-SAFE method, lightening and removal can be carried out gently on the skin and with the least risk of scarring. Usually, after a few hours or days, one can no longer see that a treatment has taken place at all and the result of the whitening is immediately visible.

Scar Care Cream - Acute Skin Care

General Description

Scar Care Cream has been developed to restore balance to chapped and irritated skin, while its antibacterial effect reduces the risk of infection.  It increases the skin’s water binding capacity, helping the skin to retain its moisture balance and accelerating the regeneration phase after the tattoo removal.

This cream product therefore relieves itching and helps scar tissue to form in an unobtrusive way.  It can replace bandages to treat small areas of damaged skin, minor injuries and small puncture wounds.  The carefully balanced blend of natural vegetable oils in the cream, such as jojoba oil and shea butter oil, protect and care for the skin and maintain its moisture after the tattoo removal. The active ingredients, D-Panthenol and calendula extract have a soothing effect on the skin.  The special extracts of frankincense and myrrh support the skin’s natural healing process, while pure silver protects the skin against new infections thanks to its anti-microbial effect.

The practical push dispenser makes it easier to dispense even the smallest doses with accuracy, as well as preventing the cream from drying out and ensuring that all of the contents can be used.

The handy mini-container is easy to transport and makes it easy to apply the Scar Cream product on the move. A sealed container guarantees that the product has not been previously opened.

Apply Scar Care Cream product at least twice daily to the affected areas once the wound has closed and crust has fallen off, massaging it gently to encourage absorption. If the wound has closed following treatment with CoverX, only apply Scar Care Cream once the CoverX layer is no longer present.

Water, Glycerin, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Isopropyl Myristate, Cetearyl Glucoside, Cetearyl Alcohol, Calendula officinalis (Marigold) Flower Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Boswellia Serrata extract, Propanediol, Gluconolactone, Panthenol , Sodium Benzoate, Commiphora Myrrha (Myrrh) Resin Extract, silver.

Scar Care Cream is free from mineral oils and parabens. It contains an extraordinarily high number of valuable ingredients in large quantities, such as Frankincense extract, myrrh, jojoba oil, marigold extracts, D-Panthenol, shea butter, and many more in order to support the skin as it regenerates after the tattoo removal. Silver has a bactericidal effect, killing germs.

Risks and Side Effects

There are no age restrictions on the use of Scar Care product on small areas of damaged skin. When used in accordance with instructions, no side effects have been observed to date. If you do nevertheless observe side effects, you should notify your physician or pharmacist.

If you have a particular sensitivity to one of the ingredients, you should not use Scar Care after the tattoo removal. Such sensitivities may include an allergic reaction to citrus perfumes (tangerine), flowers in the daisy family (marigolds), or burseraceous plant extracts (frankincense and myrrh). Avoid contact with the eyes.

Dirty or deep wounds, or those covering a large area, as well as bites and puncture wounds require medical treatment due to the risk of tetanus. If a wound does not reduce in size over time, or if it does not heal within ten to fourteen days, you must visit your doctor. You must also visit your doctor if the edges of the wounds show intense reddening, if the wound suddenly swells, is highly painful, itches, or if the injury is accompanied by a fever as this may be a symptom of blood poisoning.

H2O Mediclean - Skin Hygiene

General Description

H2O Mediclean is a innovation in skin hygiene (medical device). It reduces pathogens, reproducible microorganisms (including viruses and bacteria). When applied, the enzymes in the skin are not destroyed (not cytotoxic) as is the case with many other disinfectants, so that the wound closure and thus the healing can be done much faster! You can even observe that.

The special feature of H2O Mediclean is that it consists only of water, some salt and a minimal amount of hypochlorous acid and is thus very well tolerated by the skin. So it can be also easily applied to the face and around the eyes. It contains no alcohol.

After a pigment applying procedure (tattooing, PMU) or pigment removal (tattoo or PMU removal), spray H2O Mediclean on the treated skin surface to reduce microbes. After removing the protective cap, hold the opening of the spray head at a distance of about 6 – 10 cm from the treated area and press the spray button quickly three times. Then let sit for at least 60 seconds. That’s all there is to it. The product must not be wiped off.

>99.5% water; < 0.4% NaCl (table salt); < 0.05% bzw. 0.5g/L NaOCl (sodium hypochlorite)

Risks and Side Effects

There are no observed side effects when the product is used as intended. It should not be used in combination with wound-cleaning products. If you experience any side effects, inform your doctor or pharmacist. Do not use if you have a sensitivity to one or more of the ingredients.

Cover X - Skin Protection

General Description

CoverX is a completely new product that has been developed as an “artificial skin” rather than a dressing in the manner of a silicone layer.  It simultaneously solves a whole range of problems:

  1. The treatment zone is covered with an extremely thin, skin-coloured layer and can be made completely impermeable to UV rays if applied appropriately. CoverX does not react with the area receiving treatment.
  2. The protective layer acts as a protective element against friction from clothing as well as splash proof protection, e.g., when showering.
  3. The protective layer dissolves independently after a few days.
  4. Wet healing occurs, leading to a gentle, soothing healing process with reduced risk of scars and infections.

CoverX is easy to apply and quick-drying.   It can be covered with make-up and does not stain. It can also be applied to larger areas.

The first few days are critical for successful healing of surgical wounds or irritated skin. CoverX meets all criteria to ensure that wounds receive perfect treatment, offering the previously unattainable levels of comfort and safety.

Apply CoverX product to the affected area once the crust has fallen off. After a few minutes, the “artificial skin” is dry and firm to the touch. The result is a stable “artificial skin” that can withstand even heavy exposure for a few days.

Polyurethane-32, Aqua, Titanium Dioxide, Polyglyceryl-2 Caprate, Sucrose Stearate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Stearic Acid, Alumina, Glyceryl Caprylate , Squalane, Pentyleneglycol, Alcohol, Silber CI 77820, Sodium Carbomer, Xanthan Gum

Risks and Side Effects

When used appropriately for the conditions, no side effects have been observed to date. CoverX should only be used in combination with other wound-cleaning products. If you do nevertheless observe side effects, you should notify your physician or pharmacist.

Skin Repair Gel - Continuous Skin Care

General Description

Skin Repair Gel has been specially developed to support the healing process for skin injuries and damage caused by wounds, external friction or skin treatments such as the tattoo removal. Enriched oils such as jojoba oil restore balance to lipid levels. For oily and normal skin, light vegetable oils such as apricot kernel oil add valuable moisture without feeling greasy.

Skin Repair Gel increases lipid levels in the top layers of the epidermis and enhances its barrier function, while on the other hand allowing lipid levels in lower dermal layers to increase. Soothing ingredients such as lecithin, marigold and active extracts of frankincense and myrrh, with their centuries of proven effectiveness, will make your skin supple and protect it from drying out.

The product features a unique combination of a high number of ingredients in large quantities, and supports the skin as it builds up layers and regenerates, so that your normal, clear complexion is restored more quickly.

The Skin Repair Gel product is the ideal complement for healing and regeneration as a result of tattoos or tattoo removal and can be used in conjunction with Skin Care Cream in providing acute skin care. It can be used over the long term and for daily skincare needs.

The practical push dispenser makes it easy to get the correct dose, stops the gel from drying up, and – thanks to an ingenious vacuum system – ensures that the entire contents can be used.

Gently press on the dispensing head once or twice, and carefully apply the gel to the affected area. The product should not be applied to an open wound; instead, it should be the layer of scab cells that forms, retaining moisture and elasticity to prevent unnecessary scratching.

TIP: To enable Repair Gel to be absorbed more quickly, gently moisten the skin beforehand. Lecithin is hydrophilic and this speeds up the process of absorption in the skin.

Boswellia Serrata (Frankincense) Extract, Calendula Officinalis (Marigold) Flower Extract, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Citrus Reticulata (Tangerine) Oil, Commiphora Abyssinica Resin Ectract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Lecithin, Prunus Armeniaca Kernel Oil, Silver, Simmondsia Chinensis Oil, Tocopherol

Skin Repair Gel is free from mineral oils and parabens. It contains an extraordinarily high number of valuable ingredients in large quantities, such as Frankincense extract, myrrh, jojoba oil, marigold extracts, apricot kernel oil, lecithin, and many more in order to support the skin as it regenerates. 5. Aftercare

Why are aftercare rules so important

After treatment, the regeneration of the treated site is influenced by many factors. In addition to the main factors influencing the general health situation and your immune system, genetic factors and the way in which they support healing have an impact on recovery.

Mostly the customers themselves are responsible for unwanted side effects. UV radiation on the unprotected skin, mechanical stress as well as moisture (friction of clothing, premature removal of scab, ...) and neglected care and follow-up of the treatment site are in addition to medical reasons and mechanical stress due to premature active exercise stresses are reasons why temporary hypertrophic scars or inflammation can form.

The treatment itself is rarely due to the hygienic design itself cause of the inflammation. For larger tattoos, the risk of scarring is of course higher than for little ones. To avoid complications, follow carefully the follow-up instructions to minimize the occurrence of side effects.

Aftercare rules

- Aftercare of the treated areas - Please pay attention to !

  • Keep the treated area dry!
  • Do not expose to strong sunlight!
  • Avoid friction (clothing, belts, jewelery), do not scratch, do not close.
  • Do not apply Scar-Care-Creme for better healing and faster regeneration until the crust is gone.

6. Risks and Side Effects

Lack of care of the treated area can lead to scarring

Even after a SKINIAL treatment it can lead to scarring - hypertrophic scars or keloids. Keloids are pathological changes of the skin that are genetically conditioned in more than 50% of the cases. Some areas of the body e.g. the upper chest area, are particularly at risk. In the case of hypertrophic scars, there are several therapeutic approaches that we have extensively analyzed together with our physicians and which are well known to each Skinial Studio. Every trained Skinial user is able to offer you concrete assistance, because otherwise there is a very good healing perspective in these cases. The trigger of the reaction is the irritation of the skin by the treatment, but the reasons for the occurrence of these scars can be very diverse and have only rarely to do with the treatment itself. In general, the vast majority of hypertrophic scars (100 million annually after OPs in the Western world alone) are due to lack of or poor post-treatment and in some cases reactions to toxic components of tattoo inks. Anyone who endangers the treated areas with UV rays, mechanical stimuli or even infections must live with corresponding consequences. This is explained in detail to the treating professionals. Each customer receives after his treatment a follow-up leaflet. Parts that are particularly stressed or moved must be specially cared for and spared.

Pre-treatments by laser involve a high risk for the skin

If a tattoo has already been "processed" with a laser, but not successfully removed, it is possible that the subcutis has partially lost its natural rejection function due to the effect of the laser. This can lead to the fact that the colour cannot be completely removed even with the SKINIAL method or it can lead to white spots in the areas treated with SKINIAL.

This is because the enormous heat (up to 900 degrees Celsius) often destroys the melanocytes that produce the skin's color pigments during laser treatment and can no longer produce skin-colored pigments. Whether and to what extent one of the undesirable laser after-effects is the case can unfortunately hardly be determined externally. However, a remedy and thus safety for the treatment can be found by testing the SKINIAL method on a "trial dot", which is carried out similar to a tolerance test.

Permanent make-up and tattooing as well as any kind of correction or removal are severe irritations of the skin. The skin is a living organ and not a wall. Depending on the general state of health, intact immune system, individual resistance, location of treatment and genetic basis (sensitive or rather robust), the reaction will be different. Sometimes the skin heals quickly and well, sometimes slowly and sometimes over-reacts the skin through an overproduction of collagen.

The customer can determine more than 50% of the healing success by a good aftercare and thus ideal healing. Failure to follow-up often results in itching, skin discoloration, inflammation, and at least temporary scarring.
