Applications by tattoo artists

Tattoo artists use this technique for various cosmetic applications. A common use is lightening pigmentation in preparation for cover-ups. In addition, these techniques are also used to correct and gradually lighten tattoos, such as lettering or smaller designs. The possible applications are diverse and depend on the specific situation and the practitioner’s experience.

With large, dark tattoos, the choice of designs for a cover-up is often limited, as new designs frequently need to be larger or more intense. Targeted cosmetic lightening of the pigmentation can open up additional design possibilities for a cover-up. In this case, the pigmentation was visibly reduced over the course of several sessions. As a cosmetic procedure, the method is designed to treat the skin as gently as possible. The subsequent application of a cover-up is possible in many cases and depends on the individual’s skin reaction as well as the initial condition.
